The role of parents including any expectation that they appreciate
As a registered childminder I respect that parents are first and foremost the main carers and educators of their children. I will work in partnership with parents on all aspects of the child's well being. Parents are encouraged to share any relevant experience that they may have with the minded children, for example a parent who is a fire fighter may be asked to visit the setting in uniform and talk to the children or a parent from a different cultural background may be asked to visit the setting and share their culture, food and dress with children.
Policies of Safeguarding and behaviour management:
I have a Child protection policy and a Managing children's behaviour policy which is shared and agreed with all parents during the negotiation stage of the childminding arrangement. Any amendments to this are shared as and when they happen. Copies of all policies and procedures for my setting are available on request and parents are encouraged to take this home to read and agree before the childminding arrangement begins.
Any policy on excluding children from the setting:
Depending on the severity of the illness, I may need to exclude your child to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all children. Please refer to my infection prevention and control policy.
The complaints policy:
A full copy of my complaints policy is also available on request. Each family can be given a copy of my complaints policy for their own records and information.
Information about activities provided for children:
I provide a range of activities both indoor and outdoor to suit a wide age range. Activities are provided to suit the age and stage of each childs development. Activities include creative play (dressing up, arts and crafts etc) jigsaws, lego etc playdough, water play, cooking. My home has also been inspected to ensure it meets all health and safety requirements. All persons over the age of 10 who reside with me have also been police checked.
